STEAMBOAT  ENGINE

A model of the engines used on various Mississippi river steamboats.

The engine details :

The engine is entirely machined from brass stock to prevent corrosion, and can be mounted directly to the boat hull, or to a stand as shown above.

                .75 bore  x  5.50 stroke

                Double acting

                Single expansion

                The very unusual California Cutoff valve gear

The paddle wheel is 13.5 inch diameter by 12 inches wide, made from 5 castings.

The castings are heat-treated, high grade sand castings, and are available for immediate shipment. 

Machine tools required : 

                 9 inch diameter lathe with 3 and 4 jaw chuck 

                 Bridgeport mill or equivalent
